How I find an exhaust leak

Just curious though, If you are shooting air through the exhaust towards the motor, couldn’t that damage the motor by allowing the possibility of the catalyst debris

we had a guy on here that did a similar thing with a shop vac set on ‘blow’ instead of ‘suck’.
