How hard can it be?

We now own a ’98 Chry. Concorde with a 3.2 motor. When trying to start this car there is a rapid loud clicking side coming from the left (drivers side) under the cat.conv. We have charged the battery, thoroughly cleaned or replaced the terminals and cable ends. We are assuming the starter is bad. Is this a difficult job better left to a shop?

Wow, Funny you ask this. I did this job a few weeks ago on 98 Dodge intrepid 3.2.

Essentially you have to loosen the Catalytic converter and get it out of your way for any hope of doing it ( You do not have to take it out) . It is not hard, but you are not supposed to re-use the clamp that attaches the manifold to the catalytic converter, but if in good shape you may be able to. Unless yours has been weleded on the other end of the cat assembly will unbolt from the exhaust pipe fairly easily.

It is tight getting in there and even with proper tools it will take some time.

        Good luck

Thanks for your quick reply. Is the clamp you are referring to available at local parts stores in the event we need one?
