My car is a 2015 Mazda 3. While it looked like it’s plug and play when I removed the fog light panel grid off my car to see how it looks like, but when I called the dealership they said I also needed the fog light switch. I checked on Rockauto and they are sold out of it, not sure if it’s because it’s not really needed or if it’s flying off the shelves like that. Inside the fog light panel grid looks like it’s an input socket for me to plug in the fog light kit. Not sure where the fog light switch would go to though considering the kit is an add-on, which I would assume should mean a plug and play installation, not wiring of any “switches”.

It appears you require the multi function swtich.
If I’m not mistaken, this is setup that when you use your high beams your fog lamps turn off.
The fog light option is ( most likely ) wired into the vehicle except for the switch and lights.
My Nissan is the same way, all the wiring is in place.
all that is needed is to install the lamps and new combination switch.
        The switch is available …

says it doesn’t fit my 2015 Mazda 3. Is this plug and play or requires drilling? I rarely use the high beam lights. I’d like the fog lights to be useful during rain or snow.

Does using a switch avoid having me install the wiring into the fuse box?

                It would appear to.

If you mean using the multi function column switch

I would think the only thing required ( providing the factory wiring was install for the fog lamps ) would be possibly adding the fuse in the fuse box.
Being that the fog light option was not original to the vehicle, the fuse itself should have been omitted, unless the factory fog lights power is slaved off another circuit.
