hey eric, maybe u can also shed some light to this issue im having also. im having a sticky clutch. i replaced my master cyl and slave cyl, lubricated and bleed all the lines. when i would drive the car in the morning wouldn’t be sticky but once it warms up, that’s when it becomes sticky again. might it be my clutch?(my clutch has about 1000 miles on it) thanks again

When you say sticky the clutch pedal does not return stays down?
        see if this helps.

It returns. Just sticky. It returns slow. Hard to explain. It’s not my carpet.

Try greasing the clutch pedal assembly. As you put grease, push the clutch back and forth by hand to make sure the grease gets into the moving parts. Make sure to do this while the car is off. That might do the trick

You could try bleeding the system. Beyond that any repair starts moving into the expensive zone.

Check your line and make sure there aren’t any twists, pinches, tight bends or crimps. Also, it could be a partial blockage. Like brake lines, the rubber sections can go bad and swell on the inside. The hydraulic pressure when you press the pedal is much higher than on return, so it is quite possible the line has gone bad or has an obstruction. I am almost certain that there is a problem with the line between the master and slave.

This only happens after the car gets warm. In the morning the clutch feels good.

Ok, so it only happens warm. That doesn’t rule out my previous reply. I still say line issue, providing the master/slave do not have a defect.

How can I check the lines? I even tried keeping the line unbolted to the slave. Just pour brake fluid into the master cyl and see the flow. It flows perfect.

                            1. Could be the pedal mechanism
                            2. Could be master or slave
                            3. Could be throwout bearing binding or catching on transmission nose
                            4. Could be a broken pressure plate
                            5. Could be broken springs or something funny with the disc
                            6. Could be lack of lubrication either at the throwout arm or throwout bearing
                            7. Could be air in the hydraulic system

How would I be able to check?
Oh also just realized this recently. It tend to get more sticky when the clutch is almost at the engagement and when it’s fully depressed

I still think the first thing to do is to bleed the clutch. I don’t know that air in the system is your problem but it could be. So, bleed the system until you are satisfied it contains no air. Here is a video on how to do this. Also, notice the checks they do beforehand.

I bleed the system more than once already. No bubbles.

The hydraulic system is pretty simple: you push fluid down to the slave with the pedal and the pressure plate pushes fluid back when you release the pedal making it come back up. So, short of a helper spring broken under the dash or something wrong with the pedal mechanism, the problem most likely lives in the bell housing. So, unless looking for a big project you will need to have someone check it out.
