Alright so I need some opinions on a retrofit of a hood latch and cable assembly on my classic truck. Right now I use a padlock and chain(real hassle) and I want to retrofit a latch and cable assembly that I’ll probably get at the scrapyard. I believe ’77 was the start of the hood latch and cable rather than an external release and I reckon I can snag one from a junker 77-87 to do the retrofit. Now for the questions:
      1. Have any of y’all done a retrofit like this before and how did you do it?
      2. I’m assuming I can just plug the latch assembly in and route the cable under the hood to the cab and not have to do any serious fabrication…is this a good assumption?
Any input would be helpful as I can’t wait to get rid of the padlock and chain!

It will be a good and easy process, just make sure you run the cable in a good spot with not too many bends and make sure there is no slack.

Thats what I thought B) Hopefully I can make it work as a straight shot to the hole in the firewall where I routed the speedo and tach. I would hate to have to run it by the carberator and the throttle cable because I won’t exactly have a hole to put it through….drilling through the trucks original firewall would kinda suck.
