      Hi I’m using a Honda civic (2004) 1.7l vtec car.,I have a faulty O2 sensor ( secondary )(Code P0141)

So I ordered one from Ebay.(pic is also attached )

      http://www.ebay.com/itm/251343500234?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

now my mechanic says that itz not the right sensor (he said wire is too short also the wrong socket)
but ebay seller says it can be used with my car.

what if i cut the socket and use the old socket?
will it work that way?
      pls help

      Thanks
      Kp.

It should work as long as you get the wires correct.
But now you are cutting and splicing. solder and heat
        shrink them.

Looks like the O2 you got was for the upstream and that is why the cable is too short.

I would do the repair like College suggested, don’t use butt-connectors it will cause you problems in the future.

You can splice the wires, but most folks don’t have the skills to splice them properly, and then protect them from the weather.

Before you splice the connections, does your car have a wideband air-fuel/primary sensor? If so, it may not work properly as a secondary oxygen sensor – the computer may throw an error when it doesn’t see the appropriate voltage signal from the sensor. The LEV and ULEV Honda models are picky with O2 sensors.

                HI Guys,
I fixed my o2 sensor that i bought from ebay.itz working fine 🙂 ,My mechanic did a scan and didn’t find any errors after that.If i’m not mistaken O2(primary) voltage was always around 1.28v then it vary between ~ 1.28v – ~ .9v ,but my o2(secondary ) the one I replaced gave a reading between ~.79v – to .45v.. Is that Normal?

Also I’ve found my spark plugs are getting bad very often, My mechanic said it could be because of my faulty O2 (secondary ) sensor. Is it true ?

                Thanks
                KP
