      Hello Everyone,

After watching tons of ETCG videos on Youtube, I am here to ask a question. I recently dug into my Pilot to do a valve adjustment at 140,000. I bought a honda oem seal and gasket set, and am having trouble with the spark plug tube seals.

They look the same as in this previous post by batman94.

My question is how far in depth do I press the new seals in? The thickness of the seal is thinner than the depth of the seat bore. Do I set them all the way to the bottom of the bore or just to the top of the bore?

      Thanks!

      Eric

The 6 cylinders don’t seem to have the same issues with leaks the 4 cylinders do because of the seal design. In fact, I hardly ever replace them unless they are hard and brittle. That said, you first need to make sure you’re installing them in the correct direction with the lip facing toward the top of the engine. You then hammer them in place until they’re flush with the bore.

Thanks Eric! The seals weren’t cracked, but definitely were hard and brittle when they came out. Going to finish this up a little later today. Thanks for putting together this great place!

Good to go.. after I cleaned out the bore completely of the old glue with a soft brass wheel, I was able to finger oil the new seal, and press them in most of the way with my thumb and lightly hammer them to the proper depth. Thanks again for the info!

Glad it worked out. Thanks for the update and for using the ETCG form.
