I originally posted a question directly to ETCG, about the late 80s, early 90s Hondas.. for example, 3rd and 4th gen civic/prelude, and 3rd gen accord.
My personal curiosity lies in the 3rd gen accord, as i own one. It’s the Fuel Injected model, and all though i can tell you all about it’s current issues, most of which i have no cause to complain about considering how old the car is, i have no idea how these cars were when they were new. I’d like it if those of you who were around when they were new, would think back and reminisce about them, if you’d like.
The question is also mostly aimed at Eric. I keep hearing from you in your videos about how you got to really know your Hondas back then, and i would have loved to work in a Honda dealership myself, between 1983 and 1995 or so..
So, please share with me, or us in this case, just how fun, or un-fun on some days, those cars were to work on..and again, for myself it’d be namely the 3rd gen Accord Fuel Injected (and carbed, if you’d like)I can start by saying, in 2010 the Accord was amazing. Just had to replace a couple balljoints and all was well.
2011 a few oil leaks started, very minor..
2012, altornator, and main relay were replaced. that’s 24 years later. I say they fail, but my god, you could own the car for 25 years before having issues…
So, for me the car has been very solid, and i have never been that guy stuck on the side of the road with the 4-ways on calling for a tow.. and i havnt done anything crazy, i can not say i check everything over twice a week, but that’s just cos i have not needed to.
So again, what have your experiences been, Eric? I’d ask for a video, but it seems way too targeted to make a good video that people would watch, so we can just discuss on here instead.
