Hello, a few weeks ago my power steering pump started to make a bad whining noise on my 1994 Prelude. I noticed the a lot of bubbles where forming in the reservoir, a few minutes later the fluid would leak out of the reservoir, I must of lost like 3/4 of fluid. I took the belt off and continued to drive until I got a used pump from a salvage yard. I put the pump on 2 days ago and let it run till all the bubbles where gone. The pump didn’t whine at idle, but when I moved the steering wheel lock to lock I would hear whining, I also felt vibration when I turned the wheel under my feet, possibly the rack? Anyways, the next morning as I left to work I didn’t hear the whining anymore, but when I got to work I could hear the whine again. When the engine reaches operating temperature is when I hear the whining pretty much. It did leak out a lot of fluid, and I did put in prestone ps fluid. Fluid is at the right level and the belt is tensioned properly, also the steering wheel turns smoothly, just the noise is annoying. Any suggestions? Should I replace that fluid with Honda ps fluid? Thanks.
