P04020, P01457 CODES
I am trying to revive a 2000 Honda odyssey (180K miles) that was parked about 2.5 years ago due to severe drivability issues. At the time it threw about 2 dozen codes. A year ago an attempt was made to fix it and was shelved when the AC compressor froze up. Having fixed that and working thru all the other codes, cleaning the EGR port, ETC it now drives fine. Gas mileage is bad, at approx. 17 MPG. (country driving high sped no stops)
I consistently get two codes most every time I drive it 15-20 miles. The P04020 catalyst code, and the p01457 EVAP code. I have watched the video on diagnosing the catalyst code, and I can work on that one. Given that the #2 O2 sensor is the original, it, or a catalytic converter failure, or both may be the problem.
The EVAP code used to pop up regularly when we did not tighten the gas cap enough. This is not the case. When you open the cap after driving there is no pressure sound as you often would get. I do believe there is a leak. Given its age and the fact it sat unused for 2.5 years a leak would not surprise me at all.
Does anyone have experience as to where to start looking for an EVAP leak? How do the professionals do it? On another note if I fix both problems is it likely the mileage will come up?

I had read the solenoid valve issue in further research but the picture posted makes locating it easy.
