Honda Element road noise – gaskets/adjust doors?

Hi,
I have an 03 Element and the front doors do not seem to have a good seal at the tops of the frames. If I pull on the door while driving I can lessen the noise quite a bit.

My question is: Will replacing the door gaskets (Honda calls molding) solve the problem or can the doors be adjusted so that they provide a better seal or is there some other solution?

No, I’ve never had the door panel off on either side.
BTW, the gaps are on both sides.

I don’t believe there is any adjustment because of the door design on that vehicle. It sounds like you’re going to have to replace the seals for starters to see if that cures the problem.

That’s what I was thinking as well after looking at the doors & the service manual. Guess I’ll get new gaskets and see what that does. I’m going to do my best to avoid breaking all the retaining clips.

I am adding to a Forum string from 4 years ago, hoping that this might be the right place to ask a follow up question.

Some of the rubber weatherstrip/gasket has come loose on the passenger side front door of my 2005 Honda Element. The gasket is secure at the top and also at the lower side from about half way down the side of the door.

Is there a trick to getting the gasket secured back into the tight, narrow slot in the door that holds the gasket in place?

I’d rather not take the whole gasket off to maybe have to “slide” the loose part into the slot, but I’m having trouble using something like the end of a plastic auto trim removal tool to force it back in.

I’ve attached a photo to show more clearly the current state of the loose weatherstrip/gasket.

Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks!
