The alternator in my Honda Element failed a few weeks back. No big deal. I bought a remanufactured Denso to replace it.

About 400 miles later, the odometer light bulbs randomly lost power for about 50 miles of driving. I used a flashlight and discovered the odometer was still working fine. The bulbs came back to life that evening when I drove the car again.

The following day, the odometer was fine, but the red Battery light illuminated for about 2 seconds as I was driving, then went off again.

Neither problem has resurfaced after another 500 miles of driving. What gives?

May have a defective alternator or possibly a loose belt.

nightflyer sounds right ,bad alternators can cause all type of weird intermittent electrical issues, is it under warranty?
