Hey guys, my friend has a 2008 Honda civic ex coupe. It holds a charge, even after days if it just sits, but when he drives it runs down. I’ve done 2 alternator swaps with Autozone lifetime warranty units only, and the battery is new also. When it’s charged, it starts and runs very well. No codes are showing. My local auto electrical specialist is booked up until next week, so I need to see if anyone has some solid ideas on what can be the problem here. I also rechecked all connections and they are very clean .Please help!

I’m going to suggest its the aftermarket alternator. Check the output of the alternator.

It has been tested out of the car numerous times. I can only surmise that there is a short in the wire that triggers it to charge.
Either way, it’s back at the dealership now.

According to the manual, neither fuse box has a fuse for the alternator, that was done in older models.
I just got a call from the dealership, they say there is a code and communication error in the ecu, so they want $800 to install a new ecu.

Any of you know if the ecu is something that can be dropped in, or does it require flashing?

Sorry about that the lack of reliable info and the vast amount of generations and models got the best of me this time.

Sorry to hear its the ecu!

the ecu needs to be reflashed.
