Hi guys. let me thank you guys for maintaining this awesome forum. I’ve been a member here for few months and asked lots of questions about my 2004 Honda Civic 1.6L (ES5) and got answers straight away. Thanks for that.
I’m still having some idle problem soon after start my car, soon after start my car it stalls.but after starting it again I can run any No Kms without any problem.Either car stalls or doesn’t accelerate for few seconds. after that car works fine. since i had lots off issues with my car i decide to give a little bit of a history about my car.

I bought this car(Used) 3 years back from a Used car dealer in (Nepal)
Then i used it few months without any problem.
*One day car got overheated (nearly passed the Red mark)
*after that car started to get overheat while its running uphill or even parked on a slope (face Up)
*then wen to a Mechanic he just replaced the Radiator cap .
after that problem got solved somewhat after with the new Radiator cap.
with New Cap i was able to run 50-60 Kms without any heating issues . but some times it got over heated . but problem was not that serious .

Then I found out my secondary O2 sensor is not working, but I couldn’t find a replacement (In Nepal auto parts r bit difficult to find) Knowing that it would effect on my fuel Consumption I used the car without the sensor for about 2 years.
Then i got my car painted (somehow painted had removed all the Ground cables- anyway it was a 3rd party ground wire pack )

after it coming out from the paint I have been noticing a low Idle/stall kind of a thing.I got checked plugs and the coils .. they looks ok.

then I found a sensor (one from eBay) ( I don’t think its something do with the o2 sensor )

still the low Idle /Stalling problem is there.

NOw my mechanic think its the ***gasket .I’m planing to change the gasket next week.

***This Idle/stall issue only comes if I’m starting the car after a break . even 10 mins is enough. If its the very first start of the day. misfire is quite evident.

What do you guys think?PLsssssss Help meeeee

Sorry about my bad English 🙂

      Thanks
      KP

Low idle? And he thinks it is a gasket? Which one? And what else happens to the car, right now it could be a million things…

It could indeed be a million things, but considering the cars history of running hot, and the misfire, I would certainly be suspicious of the head gasket at this point.

A compression test (though I have no idea how readily available a compression tester might be in Nepal) would be in order, as well as a pressure test of the cooling system.

That should help you to narrow down the problem.

Your symptoms are the same ones i had when my gasket blew. But like every one else said it could be alot of things. The over heating leads me to a head gasket because of the rough idle and stall after a hot shutoff for ten minutes, but then normal after that initial bad start. In my case it was a leak in the gasket that would cause coolant to seep by the pressure of the cooling system. My car would start rough and sometimes die after a hot shut off but run normal after that initial start. The only way i knew was for one, the cooling system was overly pressurized due to the compression gasses seeping past the leak, my over flow would have bubbles coming out like it was boiling, i blew several coolant hoses, and finally i removed my sparkplugs (when cold) stuck a vacuum hose in the cylinder and took it out. I found it covered in coolant (not alot but a very notable amount). my spark plugs where wet a little as well and not with fuel.

Again follow the others suggestions, but past experience tells me your mechanic is not far off
