So a lil background, bought this 93 Honda Civic Ex with the 1.6 vtec engine, ran great but few days later starting knocking, sat for a while, than decided to replace the engine with a 1.5 vtec from Japan, engine runs great and alot more powerful than the 1.6 (im using the manifolds sensors basicly everything from the 1.6 that had 200K miles on it)
So weeks later everything was great till one day i started getting a hesisitation during acceleration, i would give it half throttle even WOT to try to get out my lane(was in front of the lane in a red light) but the more throttle the worse it would get, it wouldnt accelerate at all like as if it was stalling or to explain it better, it was like the Engine Brakes diesel uses, it felt and heard like that, only way i would accelerate was very light throttle but once i got aove 3000 RPM it ran great, got a check engine for it but had school and had to turn it off or be late to class, came back to head home and find the problem and car wouldnt start and no check engine, had to get it towed, got home and thought to myself, the ECU is for a 1.6 not 1.5 so i checked the plugs and were all fouled up(from running slight rich im assuming), replaced them and started right up but still had a hard time starting sometimes, so i replaced the distributor)sadly with a cheap taiwan one financial trouble 🙁 )
So ran great even changed the wires(again some NeverLast ones no money :() and even decided to get the cars ECU chipped and changed the basemap(fuel map) for a 1.5 vtec, so far runs great but being paranoid im not sure if if i fully fixed it or not which is why im here to ask if what i did is good so far or should i look into the O2 sensor or Plugs(plugs are also from the 1.6) and if i should go all OEM with dizzy and wires or if running the car before slightly rich caused cat to get clogged or something
Any opinions would be gladly appreciated thank you 🙂
