      Have a 99 honda civic ex sohc automatic throwing off an ECU code p1457 now cant pass smog. Cleared code but comes back on after couple days. Car has bout 160k new distrib. Alte rnatr. And timing belt put in at bout 155k were most recent car work done. Any input or experience would help alot thanks..

        p1457 evap system leakage. You will need to inspect your hoses and system for
        broken hoses. if you type in the code in our search function.click on the forum. theres
        alot of information there to help with your issue

            Correct me if i’m wrong but couldnt a loose more missing gas cap cause this code as well, or would it be a similar evap code?

              I think that code is on the other side of the evap box. i would say no

                  Nope, that’s a P1456.

                  Keep in mind this could also be a faulty solenoid or something causing an internal leak. EVAP leaks can be tricky without a service procedure and the proper testing equipment.

                    The best ways of diagnosing EVAP codes are with a smoke machine and a bi-directional scan tool unless a visual inspection points to something obvious.
