      I currently run a B18C5 engine (MT) that I swap from an Acura Integra 2000.
      At inception the swap was great moved from a B16A4 MT up in cc’s.

      Now I am experiencing a rather elusive oil burning problem. Initially I found that the PCV valve was faulty. This fault was whereby the valve was allowing oil to pass through the breather chamber and enter the intake manifold. I have since replaced this valve and added an air oil separator after the valve as well.
      Now when I push the car (pass 4k – 5k RPM) I get the signature blue smoke.
      I have yet to do a compression test.
      My question is if the oil leak is within the head and not in the crankcase (rings) how would I diagnose this?
      On a side note, no oil burn if I run under 4k RPM.

        The PCV valve was okay, it’s supposed to allow fumes to go from the crankcase to the intake manifold. It’s supposed to close if the engine backfires to keep the flames out of the crankcase, for obvious reasons.

        What’s happening is that either your engine has a lot of blow-by, which if excessive will cause oil to get pushed up the PCV hose into the intake. Or you might be overfilling the crankcase, or have the wrong dipstick for that engine, causing the crankshaft to whip up the oil so much that it foams up and gets sucked up the PCV hose.

        The simplest solution is to just not drive like a maniac. Nobody really cares or is impressed by how fast you can accelerate. Just drive like a normal person and you shouldn’t need to get into those high-RPM ranges.

          The oil levels were within normal levels and the dipstick is OEM.
          Oil was very present in the intake manifold. Not only was oil vapor present but also oil in its liquid state. The vapor is normal I agree.

          Well the maniac aspect to an extent I agree, however VTEC only takes effect after 5k RPM and on highway driving I am causing traffic 🙁

          Since I have replaced the PCV and implemented the Air Oil Separator I don’t have an issue with oil in the intake.
          But I am now burning oil elsewhere.

            If you had to add an oil separator, you had too much blowby to begin with.

            An oil separator can’t do miracles. If you rev the engine up high enough there can be enough blowby to push oil up the hoses and through the separator. It only takes like one drop per second to make a substantial cloud of smoke. Your oil separator may be doing a bang-up job, but it can’t catch every small droplet.

            You may need a ring-job or a second oil-separator in series to fix or patch over this problem.

              Other than removing the Head and pressuring testing. Is there any other way to assess the health of the head (valves, valve seals and oil journals).

              I am to a compression test soon to assess the rings and head gasket.
