Eric,
As I’m sure you (and most of the folks who frequent your videos and site) are aware 67 million vehicles equipped with Takata airbags were recalled starting in 2016. Takata lied about the safety of these airbags (source: https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2016/takata-lying-since-2000.shtml), most automakers severed their relationships with them & Takata went bankrupt.
What you may NOT know and is incredibly urgent to spread the word on is that the oldest of these air bags, referred to as “Alphas,” pose a 50 percent risk of a type of failure that has caused serious injuries and deaths. Nine of the 18 confirmed U.S. fatalities due to Takata ruptures were Alpha air bags. While the majority of these air bags have been replaced, as of February 2021, thousands are still on the road. 2 of those 18 deaths were in 2020 (August and September in Arizona) and the remaining higher-risk defective air bags are in certain 2001-2003 Honda and Acura vehicles-the others were in Ford and Mazda vehicles which have all been either repaired or otherwise accounted for (source: https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/state_of_takata_air_bag_recalls_fourth_report.pdf)2001-2002 Honda Civic
2001-2002 Honda Accord
2002-2003 Acura TL
2002 Honda CR-V
2002 Honda Odyssey
2003 Acura CL
2003 Honda Pilot
Source: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls/takata-alpha-air-bags-pose-increased-riskSince you had the displeasure of working on many 1999-2003 Acura TLs/CLs you can add these exploding passenger front airbags to the list. If you don’t mind making an urgent PSA style video to spread the word far and wide it would probably help quite a bit. You probably also already have these links but here they are again to include in said PSA
