If you have a check engine light for a specific code, you need to diagnose as to why you have that code.

Do you have any test equipment to test the knock sensor or a FSM to follow troubleshooting steps for that code?

If PCM senses a knock in the engine, it will retard the timing to reduce damage.

Was this issue present before you did this work? Did you use OEM parts and im going to assume you used an aftermarket air intake system for that vehicle?

Sounds like you have misfires so bad the limiter is kicking in and the knock sensor is retarding the timing. You might first start by checking the mechanical timing to see if that is correct but I would also recommend checking for voltage leaks and also do a compression test if that proves to be OK. I think you have an ignition system or mechanical issue by the sound of it.
