honda accord timing issue, help please,

Hello form, I just replace the timing belt and water pump on a 95 honda accord. this car has two belts. I have triple check the timing marks on crankshaft and camshaft. they are both in time. I stated the car and it idles fine, however once I put the car in drive it feels like it is missing then dies. any ideas? (note it drove fine before)

I think the cam senor lives back there. check the position
and wiring.

I believe the cam sensor on that engine is actually inside the distributor.

Should set the timing with a timing light.
The marks are just to make sure things are lined up correct. Timing is mostely at the distributor. The old belts where most likely streatched a little, and the new belts are a little tight. I only work on 90 through 93 Accords, so I am guessing it is the same for 95’s.

Don’t do this. You should never mess with ignition timing unless you remove the distributor. It hardly ever needs adjusting and is controlled by the computer. If you attempt to adjust it without following the proper procedure, you could cause engine damage and performance issues.

It’s likely that you installed something wrong, or perhaps didn’t hook something up correctly. Anytime you have an issue after performing work like that, the most likely cause is something that you did. You might go over your work to make sure everything is correct. Thanks for the response Eric. The timing is corrected I had someone look over my work. I think the Air Idle Control Valve may be suspect. The cylinders have great compression. While in drive the car runs with lost of power however only at idle does it feel like the car is missing. Thanks again eric im a long time fan. You do great work.
