Hi Guys, I have had a 1993 Honda Accord (Wagon) brought to me with a Cooling Fan Issue. First of all I can rule out that the fans are not faulty as they run when the A/C is activated. The problem is when the car is up to operating temperature the fans dont come on at all. I have replaced both temperature switches and that still didnt work. I even got a wire and shorted the pins in the sensor next to the thermostat as normally they will run when you do that, but nothing happened. I checked all the fuses and relays and they are all perfect, I even put new ones in but nothing. I am completely stuck on where to go with this as the sensors, fans, fuses and relays are fine. I know the car has a fan timer unit but I have no idea where to find this and what it looks like.

If you guys have any input I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S I have also bleed the cooling system and replaced the thermostat and that was also no help.

On occasion I do find issues with issues with the fan timer units on those vehicles. I show how to make that determination in this video. BTW it’s located under the left side of the glove box.

Thanks for your reply Eric, I didn’t managed to see the video here.. But I take it when you say glove box you are talking about a Right Hand Drive Car? As I am not totally sure what it looks like. Is it near the Main Relay as I can work from that. Cheers

Try clearing your browser’s cache to see the video. Or you can watch it on YouTube. No, I’m not talking about a right drive car. If you’re sitting in the passenger seat and reach down under the left side of the glove box this will be the approx area of the fan timers location.

Thanks again Eric. I’ll have a look tonight when I get home and let you know what I find.

Hi Eric, I was able to view your video now I am back home. (Very good by the way). I had another look under both foot wells and I am still not 100% sure what I am looking for. I have taken some photos here if that is any use. Let me know what you think. I also added a photo of the car just for reference.

                Many Thanks Damien

You’re no where near it. Sit in the passenger seat. Take your left hand and reach under the glove box. It should be near that area. This isn’t right hand drive is it?

Hi Eric, thanks for your reply. Yes the car is Right Hand Drive, Sorry I thought I had mentioned that earlier… My fault. So would it be on the passengers side on a right hand drive? or do they keep it bundled with all the other bits? Cheers

OK that makes sense why you can’t find it with the instructions I’ve given. To be honest I’ve never worked on a right drive so I couldn’t say. I’d say look under the right side of the glove box in the area where the console meets the dash.
