I have 1997 honda accord that has no power to the fuel pump after cheking the main relay and fuses I decided to drop the gas tank and I checked for power and there was no power to the fuel pump. After that i notice that when I turn the key to the on position the check engine light does not light up. does that mean that my ECM is Bad? or what outs could it be?

First, you don’t need to drop the tank to get access to the fuel pump. You can get to it from the access panel in the trunk. That said, are you checking for power at the yellow wiring going to the pump? If so, know that it will only be there for 3 seconds if it doesn’t see a crank signal. The PCM does not power the fuel pump, the main relay does.

In addition to the above article this might also be helpful.

May I ask why you’re looking at the fuel pump?

I had a similar problem with my 94 integra. Me and my father just ended up replacing the relay, fuel pump and fuel filter. that was it. your solution may be far off from mine. It took us a while to get it fixed. Good luck and let us know what you did to fix it, it would help others in the same boat. B)

I looked at the fuel pump because the fuses and main relay tested good. I thought it was the a bad pump but I put a new pump and it didn’t work. I checked for power with a test light with the help of my dad and I was not getting power to the pump. So as I was looking around and turning the key to the on position I noticed that the check engine didn’t light up (because its supposed to light up right?)so I ask some friends and they told me the that ECM/PCM was bad. thanks for the help. I hope I explained good.
