I have front brembo brakes on my acura rl. I recently noticed a high pitched noise when going forward. My front brake pads and rotors were changed in May 2014 and I always check the thickness of the pads when I do my oil and tire rotations. So I knew that I had plenty of pad material left and my brake reservoir was not low. However, I decided to service the brakes as eric described in his video on his element. What I found was that one of the wear indicators was bent and making contact with the rotor. These are the type of brake pads that I installed:

The OEM pads do not have this type of wear indicator:

So, I just wanted everyone to be aware of this as a possible solution to an unexplained noise.

      Anyone else encounter this problem?

Same thing on my Wife 06 Explorer. She started getting the brake warning squeal. So i went to parts store and purchased some pads since I haven’t changed the brakes since i purchased it used. Noticed the shoes were still good so i looked at the angle of those dummy things. It was bent hitting the rotor. Easy adjustment. These are more for the everyday people that just drive the car till it breaks and then fix it. Gotta love saving money..

Here is what one looks like but its different on every type of brakes.
