      Hey every one
The 2008 Malibu LT 7th generation is what my friend has and he needs new bulbs and they are a pain to change. you have to take the bumper pretty much off.
so im wondering which one the bulbs (HID or Halogen) would live longer.
just trying bring down the number of times I need to go and change them.
I should say that he is a taxi driver so he will be running his lights alot which is why I need more info. most cars don’t need that many bulbs during their life span but im sure he will.

      thanks

HIDs don’t live well in reflector style housings. They tend to scatter light instead of focusing it where it needs to be and tends to attract unwanted attention from those guys with blue bubble gum machines that light up on top of their cars. Do chalk up at least the purchase of projector assemblies to get them to work right. I would also avoid those 4.99 specials on Ebay (insert sarcasm here). That being said I’d probably get some quality halogen bulbs and go with that. Much cheaper than getting HIDs to work right. Plus some jurisdictions are funny about aftermarket stuff if inspections are commonplace where you live.

I know they don’t put the light where they should but in general do HID live longer or halogen ?
assuming one has just normal reflectors.

My car is 10 years old and has HID. I’ve never had to replace a bulb (actually I think they are called capsules). So, they last that long. However, you cannot just switch bulbs between halogen and HID. Why? Because HID runs on high voltage and has special wiring and a ballast.

To switch to HID you need a kit with the above parts.
