Hey all,
I just registered today after spending the weekend installing a brand new power steering rack and outer tie rods on my vintage 1997 Honda Civic LX MT. I watched Eric’s video on installing the rack on a civic and he made it look so easy. However, I didn’t realize that its much harder to do the job on a manual transmission civic. However, I did it! Thanks Eric.
However, I came on here because I had one little issue after everything was installed. I think the new after market rack has a slightly smaller diameter than the factory rack, because I noticed that the bracket and rubber cushion that holds the rack on the passenger side does NOT hold the rack securely no matter how much I tighten it (see attached pic). The rubber cushion that is supposed to be pressed tight against rack and keep it snug is loose and spins freely.
Has anyone else had any issues with after market racks having smaller diameter? The problem is the looseness is causing a little extra slop in the steering.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
