Help with code P0505 Mitsubishi Eclipse V6

Hello,

I have a 2000 eclipse gt with the DTC P0505 IAC (Idle Air Control) System Malfunction.
I already replaced the IAC valve (no luck)
I inspected the wiring and everything looks fine

The car works fine and idles nice and smooth,there’s no noticeable problems with the car,but the code P0505 keeps coming back. At this point i think the culprit is the ECU.
My question is: is it safe to ignore the code and keep driving the car?…i don’t have the money to buy a new ecu,a new immobilizer and pay the dealer for reprograming a new key.
As i read on the web,replacing the ECU in this car is a pain.

Any ideas on how to solve the problem would be apreciated.

Great link again College Man.

Id also suggest a FSM also along with some wiring diagrams to help with the troubleshooting for that particular code.

A bi-directional scan tool would also be helpful.

Mitsubishi’s are known for computer issues but that doesn’t mean we can go on the assumption that’s the problem. Try the diagnosis that’s been suggested. If you find the ECU to be at fault and it’s only setting the code to be honest I might drive it anyway but know that something else inside it could fail and cause an issue at some point in the future.
