A 1990 GM will have regular green coolant. Weather your car has dexi-cool or not will have no effect on the gaskets failing. The LIM gaskets are prone to failure no matter what after 70K or so on most GM 60 degree V6 engines. I would start with a compression test, Eric has videos on this if you search. If you suspect a bad head gasket you’ll have to do the intake anyway. It sounds like you’ll be doing alot of work on this car so I would suggest getting the GM service manuals. Don’t wast your time the Haynes if you’re unfamiliar with engine repair.
