So i’m getting an Opel Corsa C Facelift 2005 1.3 CDTI and noticed some quite noticable turbo lag.

Are there any methods to reduce this? So far I’ve heard of:
      – Heat sleve
      – Stainless steel 2.5″ exhaust pipe (and maybe a muffler although that’s another question)
      – ECU Remap

The cheapest and (looks) efficient is the exhaust pipe.
Would this make any noticable difference?
      Thanks 🙂

About the egr valve, i have a peugeot 406 hdi diesel, for a while i put a blanking plate over the egr, but it didnt really make a difference except make it harder to start in the cold weather, i took out the blank and used some wynns diesel spray egr cleaner, the car clattered a lot when it was sprayed in. After that the car definatley run better.
But a ecu remap on a turbo diesel is good, i got a remap file from a car which had been remapped and put it on my own, it made a noticeable difference.

i was gonna buy some STP Diesel Clean Injectors additive to clean the injectors and while at it, I’ll clean the EGR valve manually (if I manage to locate it).

Also, the car is doing weird rev-ups when braking (in neutral) while the car is still moving (you know.. traffic while going downhill). revving from ~600 to 1500 and then back at ~600.

I’ve read that it might be the throttle body flap getting stuck so I’m considering cleaning it too.

          help is always welcome 🙂

i also seen an article about cleaning out a vauxhall/opel throttle body to cure eratic idle issues.

I would also check the linkage too to make sure there isn’t anything that is getting caught up.

I am clueless on diesels so i can not offer you anything to your turbo lag issue unfortunately.

After some research I’ve found out that Diesels don’t have a throttle body……. So I poured in a bottle of STP Diesel Injector Cleaner and 17miles later, I can say that the car feels a little better, better pedal response (my accidental burnouts speak for themselves).

I’ll wait till the tank is empty and buy the STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner for Diesel (
