Hi everyone, I finally finished my 05 Durango 4.7 engine swap!:) Just one problem… It wont start!:( So here is what happens, I turn the key to the on position and the R for reverse is lit up even thought its in park, I can cycle through all the gears and it goes into everyone, the weird part is that when you get to Park or Neutral it just skips over it and goes into reverse or drive, so hence the reason its not starting. When I scan it it I get P0700, and P0750. I know its shift selenoid A, but I know that thats not the problem. I honestly didnt disconnect anything from the tranny during the swap not one single wire. I still checked all of my connections and nothing, I jumped my neg battery terminal to the engine in hopes I just had a bad ground to no avail, and the battery isnt weak or anything everything works. I cleared the ECU and nothing. I checked all of my fuses too, Ive never had that code or any problems with the tranny. the fluid was changed 3000 miles ago. Is this some sort of mode its in or what? any ideas are absolutely appreciated and btw the truck was taken apart since halloween, so thats how long it hasnt had power if that makes a diffrence? Thanks!:) Have a great day!

Ok the stuff on autozone was really helpfull, I have pretty much narrowed it down to being a problem with the LR Selenoid Control, either the wiring for it or something else, im going to go outside and track all the wires for it and check the rounds one more time and we will see what I end up with, btw my chrysler mechanic said that he sees this pretty often, especially if you change a tranny, He gave me instructions on how to reset the transmission range sensor, but it didnt work so it must be the wiring, Thanks!

Ok so i figured out what the problem was, one of the many terminals on the giant connector for the selenoid pack was pulled half way out, once i pushed it back in it fired right up, it sounds great, now the $50 oil pan gasket I just put on is leaking, I think I will just sell the car haha 🙂 Do you know of any good ways to stop a pan gasket leak, it only leaks when the engine is running which is what makes me thing I may have luck with a sealer, I really don’t want to put any kind of stop leaks in my 50k $2000 engine but being that I’m going to have to drop the front diff and axle to change the gasket again I might give one a try, Thanks!

I think the connector you’re talking about was for the PRNDL switch which is what I was going to suggest you check. This is the switch that tells not only the dash what gear you’re in but also the computer. If the computer doesn’t know that you’re in park it won’t start as a safety feature. Thanks for posting the fix.

That said I hope you didn’t coat the gasket with RTV. If so this is the most likely cause of your leak. Let the gasket do the work, there’s no need to add anything else.
