Hi Eric, Ive been hearing news stories lately on accidents involving drag racing or excessive speeding. One of the more disheartning stories I’ve read is how a mother and her her 4 sons were hit by someone drag racing. Out of the 5 of them only one of her sons survived. I remember in your FATR’s that you discouraged drag racing and would not post videos depicting it. I was wondering if I could approach you to perhaps make an ETCG1 video about the subject and perhaps we could use your voice and “video spread” to help discourage drag racing.

I don’t think you should discourage drag racing as I am somebody who loves to drag race with my friends. However I do not think drag racing should be done on the public streets if that’s what you mean. Every time I go drag racing I go to this long road next to a lake and there’s only people there like 10% of the time. So maybe you can discourage people from drag racing on public streets which I have seen MANY other people do. I have even been asked by random drivers to race when I’m at a red light, but I just ignore them. For people that really want to drag race hey should go to a drag strip and if they can’t find any local drag strips then find a safe road where there is hardly any people.

That was actually my intention Nissan, to discourage racing on public roads. Drag racing on a closed course or away from public roads I dont have an issue with.

I think your intent is to discourage ‘street racing’ not drag racing. Drag racing is a real sport that is NOT done on public roads and is something I personally enjoy. It’s funny you should mention this because the other day I saw an ad for a show on discovery about street racing. I haven’t seen the show yet but I was wondering how they were going to handle that part of it. Probably a disclaimer at the beginning of the show that said something to the effect of, “Don’t do the stuff you see in this show because it’s dangerous and people could get hurt. We’re just showing it here so that we can profit from the advertising.”

I have a few video ideas in the cue at the moment but I think this is a topic worth discussing at some point. Thanks for the suggestion.
