Thanks in advance for any help. It will be greatly appreciated. I have a 1998 Honda Accord 3.0l v6 LX. It has less than 120,000 and was owned by my mothers best friend. She babied this thing. She is a state auditor and all miles were highway miles.
A few weeks ago started getting error codes and engine idling rough. Went to AutoZone, codes where all p0301 through p0306, all cylinders misfiring and p0300 random misfires and p0401 EGR insufficient flow. Watched Eric’s video and cleaned the EGR valve and were the two air holes enter the engine. Also the intake manifold. It was a mess. EGR code cleared.
Started car up again. Codes showed all misfires and MAP sensor needing to be replaced p0108. Ordered MAP from Rockauto, put it on. Cleared MAP code.
Cranked up car again all cylinders misfires and p1399 misfire in any cylinder. Plus, Evap control system leakage. Plus overheating. Called mechanic that recently changed out timing belt and water pump. He said probable ignition coil. Tried ohm meter test per haynes guide. No joy didn’t work. Ordered new ignition coil. Changed out.
Now car cranks no start. Watched Eric’s videos. No spark from spark plugs. Coil is outside of distributor and ignitor module is different from videos. Used test light on new coil. Lite up, so getting fire. Haynes said test Ignitor harness, black/yellow wire for battery voltage. Showed nothing on voltage meter. Test light zilch too. Distributor cap checked out. Tiny bit of oil at bottom. Rotter looked ok as well.
So what do ya’ll think? ignitor module gone bad? I’m a poor student and have to support an army of fat assed university types with my money. Thanks.
