              I’m more a VW/Ford person myself.

We have a lot of Honda and Acura types around the group. Pretty sure someone will pick up on this and lend a hand.

Have you loosened the bolts and tried to pry is gently with a pry bar to the desired tightness?

might sound silly but have you checked to make sure you have the belt installed correctly? if so maybe messing with the tension arm might help some, I would just move the tensioner back and forth a few times.

The only oddball thing I can see would be the bolt just next to the metal pipe..next to the plastic part in the upper right side of the image. Near the black/blue wire plug.

Looks like it’s not threaded in.

Like I said..I’m a vw and ford guy myself. (oddball combination)

Honda engines like that have their belts manually tightened. They’ve done worse things with that type of tensioner. Early ’00’s Civics have the alternator buried down low and they decided to make a wing nut type head for the adjuster. It’s always hard turning and near impossible to reasonably grasp with your man hands. This one is cake by comparison. Make sure all the bolts that secure the alternator are just a little loose before you tension the belt. There’s going to be a special bolt that sits in a slot and it pulls up the alternator for adjustment. I highlighted the bolt in the OP’s pic. From the looks of it, you’ve actually gone way too far in slacking off the adjuster. Start spinning that bolt in the other direction. I’m kinda guessing you’re using basic hand tools, getting a half turn at at time, and it feels like it’s taking forever to get the tension on it. If that’s the case, get yourself a long extention and a swivel to add to the socket and get spinning. The threads always get crusty on those bolts so it’s going to feel like to long a job for a stupid bolt regardless. Once you get good tension on the bolt, and the belt for that matter, remember to tighten up the other bolts, nuts, & whathaveyou.

                        Good luck.
