My ex-wife calls me and tells that her clutch went up on her car and the garage quoted her a replacement cost of $2300 for clutch and replacement of a cracked flywheel. Does this sound right (non-dealer)?
2007 Toyota Camry with 4 cylinder engine.
Does the engine need to be removed for this repair???
Of course they are putting the pressure on her and i live 2.5 hours away and cannot verify the cracked flywheel.
You guys would know better than I…..thanks again.

Pretty steep IMO , But , here is why – according to the ” book ” the motor has to come out ( 10 hours labor ) x’s whatever the shop rate is. clutch kit is 200.00 ( add shop markup ) flywheel is probably dealer only. still don’t see 2300.00 here though. and fact is the job can be done with out pulling motor. check out youtube channel – briansmoble1

Thanks for the advice. Now she will see why were divorced….Would Not Listen!!!!
She paid the $2300, and of course she will want me to “help” her out….It’s happen time to time ! People think to pay a lot of money is better then pay cheap price to do a better mechanic job. Today, I discover I need to change my coolant thermostat I change last year. Because now, my engine and my driver side are now too hot. Mechanic always breakdown, It’s just a matter of time.
