      Hi Eric, hey everyone

I am from South East London (a place called Kent) and I came across Eric’s Ford Focus clutch replacement video on You Tube and since then I have been hooked to EricTheCarGuy videos.

I have a Ford Focus in the UK myself (UK model) and my wife has a Rover, which is sick with water pump and head gasket issues.

My Dad was a mechanic in his youth and when I was growing up, my dad taught me a lot of stuff such as how to do oil changes, transmission oil changes, change brake pads and loads more. His house had a big garage, ideal to work on cars.

I loved working on my car but then I got married, bought my own house and just ended up taking my car to the dealerships. However, everytime the dealership would try and screw me over by trying to convince me that something was broken on my car and I needed to buy new parts. I knew this was not the case as I would always check the car before.

Anyway, I am fed up now with the dealerships and have decided to start doing as much service work and repairs myself as I can. I have a big driveway, but it is sloped, so it will be a challenge. However, I have got myself a decent jack, axel stands and wheel ramps to give me extra safely.

My first job is to service my ford focus, then to change the speedo sensor on the gearbox as it keeps cutting out in the wet. As for my wifes car, I would like to attempt a water pump and timing belt change as the water pump leaked and so the engine over heated and now the head gasket has gone. I did pour “Steel Seal” into cooling system to fix the head gasket, and did an oil change as the oil was contaminated, which has done the trick. However, I still need to tackle the water pump as it still loses coolant over time. Whilst I am at it, I might as well do the head gasket. However, I dont know if I am taking on a too bigger job.

The inspiration for me to get back into working on my car came from your videos Eric, so thank you.

It would be great if you had your own TV show – i’d tune in.

      Regards

      Colin
