      Hello,

Does anyone here have any experience replacing a heater core on a GM W body? Car that I am working is a 96 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera 3.1. The heater core is in the middle underside of the dash and is easily access. The problem I am having is, I cannot get the new core in. There seems to be a panel in the way that I cannot remove. This panel seems to prevent good access to get the pipes through the firewall. I will get a photo up later of the panel I am referring to.

So you have the old core out just fine? Is the new core look the same as the old one?

Yes the new core is the same. I also figured out my issue.

There was a hex screw that I could not see at the top of the panel. I ended up breaking the panel and was able to get the heater core pipes through the firewall. Upon going to junkyard to get a replacement panel, I saw the screw that I could not see since this panel also broke.

New core is in and now I have nice hot heat.

Easy heater core to do. Getting to the hose clamps on heater hoses is a challenge since you have limited room.
