having bad car issues, please help!

I own a 1991 pontiac firebird and its symptoms include low and rough idle, loud fuel pump, and after it warms up it slowly looses power until close to stalling. But then I can shut it off and start it again then it runs fine for another little bit then repeats. Please help!

It’s very possible the regulator is at fault. I just would like to see you test the whole system and not guess at it. Throwing parts at it can get expensive.

Yes it can, I’ve put in about $300 trying to fix this problem. I really appreciate this help, its hard finding good help for these things these days. How exactly would I connect a fuel pressure gauge?

How exactly would I connect a fuel pressure gauge?[/quote] You have to depressurize the system first. Then usually there is a valve on the rail that you will connect the gauge to. If you haven’t done this before or feel uncomfortable doing it, I’d recommend taking it to a shop.

Okay I will definitely take your guys help and hopefully find the issue.

Also note, the FPR are really bad about going out on those GM V6s, I myself might have a faulty FPR as the car seems to be dumping fuel. Shop is looking at to see if they can chase down the problem.
