Made a short video of the issue I am having, but its taking forever to upload. Will edit this when I get off of work and include it in this message.
It happens at :30, :46, 1:12, and 1:25
https://youtube.com/watch?v=FmZa_bkxV0Q2001 dodge stratus rt coupe 3.0 sohc v6 manual transmission
What happens is when I am just cruising, lets say 55 mph in 5th gear, when I go to accelerate whether I downshift or not the rpm’s will rise a little fast (about 500) then drop back to where they were and continue to rise as normal.
I have read some posts online saying it could be anything from a vacuum leak to my clutch. I don’t think it’s the clutch since while the rpm’s are rising faster than they should be I am gaining speed. If the clutch was slipping I wouldn’t think I would still gain speed, but it might still be transferring some power? I don’t know much about vehicles. Any advice would be amazing. I have driving this car 2k miles in about 2 weeks so I need to make sure it is in great shape before then.
Another comment to add that might be related is very rarely I will be driving and all of a sudden it’s like I hit a wall. Car has a huge jerk and lose of power but recovers within a blink of a eye like nothing happened.
ps: If anyone can tell me what that darn clanking noise is that would be awesome. Have my front struts replaced and it made a little difference but has recently gotten louder. Maybe a broken motor mount?
