i have a 1988 Honda accord lx 2.0 with a Kliehn 2 barrel carb. It runs fine after warming up. On start up I give it 3 pumps of the accelerator and it starts but then immediately stalls. A few more pumps and it starts then stalls. usually on the third time it will start but I have to hold the rps up to keep it running. the base idle is set for about 900 rpms. once its warm it operates as normal. Is there another something to do wit i adjustment I need to make or does the temperature sensor have to do with it. The high idle cams seem to be functioning normally, kicking down as normal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert

        Sounds like a fuel problem
I’d do a fuel pressure check.

Did you also check the automatic choke on the carb.

Might have a look at the carb jets.
A service rebuild might be in order after 28 years.

                +1 on the carb jets.

If its running as normal when warm but starting from cold is a problem start with the automatic choke setup then move on from there if you still experience issues.

I did to the best of my knowledge. It seems to operate correctly. Although when it closes it does not completely close. Unsure tif this is normal. It opens at temperature all the way. Should there be a small gap in the butterfly or completely closed?
