Hey everyone,
I just watched Eric’s tool review on Grey Pneumatic sockets. I really liked the tools based on the review, but I have one concern. The sockets aren’t chrome, so I’m worried they will rust. Is this something I should be concerned about? Considering buying them but I want to make sure they will last.

In the video Eric had said that the sockets were coated in a rust inhibitor much like a brake rotor is when it’s new. Based on that it seems that once that is rubbed off they will rust (much like brake rotors). That’s just my theory though, I have never used them.
If you are using the sockets regularly and don’t live in a harsh environment they will be fine. They have the same kind of finish/coating that traditional impact sockets have. If you tend to use tools once in a while or live in a very wet or salty area then it would be best to oil them down with something before you put them away after use. Also, if working with rusted fasteners or parts, take a little time and clean the sockets before putting them away.
I have these duo sockets in my home box because of their multi purpose ability. I have had zero issues so far and would by them again if for some reason they got missing.
they normally don’t rust in any case. I’ve had my lug nut kit for about 8 years now and they have no sign of rust or corrosion on them currently. I do rally racing and that’s where they meet extreme conditions going from cold snowy and salty to hot and humid to windy and dusty. I have yet to see them even crack (besides the one I accidently ran over pulling out of service.) They have been great.
