To me it was disappointing that this set did not come with wobble extensions. It was suppose to according to the Grey Pneumatic catalog. I reached out to them about this issue and I was told that wobble extensions have been discontinued and that if I was not satisfied with the set, I could return it to where I purchased it from. No apology, nothing. Because of that, this may be my last Grey Pneumatic tool review. What are your thoughts?

Just watched the vid.
They certainly look nice and I love the size clearly written on them.
However at about 10m 20s is that the coating flaking off or just some crud on the socket?
June 26, 2014 at 4:29 pm #601959in the video you said you didn’t like the length of the ratchet i don’t think the issue is the ratchet i think its the drive size from what i can see i would have used a 3/8 on it not a 1/4 which would have the extra length and solve the issue. snap on make tools to do more then they should after all my 3/8 ratchet from snapon is longer then probably most 3/8 breaker bars (its about 500mm-600mm) which is why it broke my kincrome 10mm socket if im honest i should have used a 1/2 socket on it not a 3/8 its the only time ive broken a kincrome socket
June 27, 2014 at 9:17 am #602098Good review…
My Opine… I don’t use 1/4 that much… On occasion, but very rarely. The ratchet had some good features… The recessed release button… Yup, I have had space issues because of a raised button, so that is nice.. Also the direction lever being recessed is nice. I have a 1/4 air ratchet and I absolutely never use it. So when I do use 1/4 it usually is with the ratchet…
The smallest application I generally use is 7mm for GM’s… However I do keep a deep snap on 3/8 7mm in my “go to” magnetic tray along with an 8mm of the same type.
As far as the wear out on the numbers.. I usually use a “reverse principal” to find them quickly… the impacts that get shiny and dirty at the same time (I.E. the 10, 12 and 14) usually stand out because of their use… Come to think of it, I don’t think I have ever used an 11mm socket… 9mm on very rare occasions and a 16mm is relatively untouched (don’t work on many Chrysler products)
May have been nice is to throw some of the smaller torx and Etorx in there.. There are some applications where only a 1/4 drive/ratchet will fit…
Looks like a nice set, but I wouldn’t give it much use… But I bet Motorcycle techs would find this set handy…

Just crud on the socket. The coating is fine.

Given that I easily broke those fasteners loose with my longer Snap-on ratchet, I’d be inclined to disagree with you. Yes, a 3/8 could have been used, but clearance would have been even more of an issue had I used a 3/8 in that location. I had a hard enough time getting the 1/4 in there.
Thanks for your input.

That’s interesting because I use 1/4 quite often when working on Hondas. I find I’m able to get into tight locations easier and I have less of a tendency to over tighten fasteners. Everybody had preferences.
Thanks for your input.
August 26, 2014 at 5:05 pm #615715I just ordered set of 3/8″ metric 6-point G-P (7-22mm) deep and shallow sockets because the review made by Eric. I hope there’ll be wobble extensions but I’m not sure, like Eric said that they have been discontinued. I’ll probably update this post when I get them if the extensions were there or not.
I am really looking forward to this set because almost no-one here has Snap-On, Matco or tools like you americans usually have, because 98% of “quality sockets” are by Bahco here (in Finland). And since the quality of Bahco has come down in recent years, buying other brands from overseas is definitely an option now. The shipping fees were quite expensive, over $50 USD (incl. customs fees) but like I said I’m REALLY looking forward to these.
Thanks Eric and keep up the reviews, they are really fun watch.
ps. This was my first post even though I have subscribed the channel about year and a half or two ago! yay

First, welcome to the forum!
I love my GP socket sets. I’ve been using them for some time and they’ve never disappointed. The one drawback is the color. It’s pretty much the same as just about everything in the engine bay so it makes it easy to loose sight of a socket if you set it down. As for performance, in my opinion, they’re as good or better than the other major brands like Snap-on or Mac. Concerning the wobble extensions, I suppose it depends on what stock is left. Once that stock is gone, I don’t believe they’ll be making wobble extensions available anymore. I spoke to the sales rep at GP on this so I know the info is solid.
Thanks for joining the forum and good luck with those tools when they show up.
September 11, 2014 at 10:02 pm #620191..And the tools finally arrived! They had quite long stop at Germany but finally arrived earlier today. And I was lucky and got the wobble extensions! I can’t wait to get fixing my tie rod with the new socket set. The ratchet is really heavy and feels like a good quality one, the chrome ones are usually light and noisy. This is very silent. The wobble extensions seem really awesome but can’t really say anything before I’ll get the chance to get them dirty and down to work.

Cool! glad they finally showed up. I’m sure you’ll get many years of use out of them.
