Greetings! My name is (ironically enough) Erik. I thought I’d give a little introduction, a little of my background…
I’ve always had something of an interest in vehicles, from cars to heavy trucks. But due to personal circumstances, I had never pursued that interest, personally or professionally. I originally tried to get into IT work, which flopped pretty quickly. I then pursued some (rather poor) schooling in the electrical trade and found out fairly quickly on the job my very real fear of heights. So I quit before I had even worked a full year.
Afterwards, while trying to figure out what to do with my life, I went back to my interest in vehicles. I booted up Google, I booted up YouTube, and found ETCG. I watched his videos, in particular what he had to say to prospective new mechanics/technicians. I decided to give it a go, and signed up for school.
First day I walked into the shop, having no automotive experience besides changing a tire, I fell in love. And I have been in love since. Everything from oil changes and brake jobs to electrical systems and diagnostics, I absolutely love it. It’s not just a career path, it’s a passion.
As of right now, I’m wrapping up my requirements for an Automotive AAS and am already working on my AAS working on the big rigs, which is where I plan to end up.
Sorry for the long introduction, but now you know how I got here.
With that said, I’d like to thank Eric for his work, which pushed me from an unpursued, passing interest, to my career and my passion. And to the rest of the community, greetings and I’m happy to be here.
Stay dirty,
Miehrig
