      Hiya everybody!

It all started with me searching something car related and I pretty quickly found myself to ETCG’s YouTube channel.
I don’t even own a car, but I do get to drive from time to time. (In Sweden it’s not very common to drive to university)
I’m currently pursuing my degree in Computer Engineering and I’ve been spending most of my free time watching
Eric’s videos the past 6 months. I get excited every time a new video is released!

Can’t wait to graduate and purchasing a vehicle of my own.

      Regards

Welcome! Just because you don’t own a car, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t understand at least the basics, because no matter where you go, you’ll eventually be in one…the train doesn’t go everywhere! My kids are just getting ready to start driving and the one thing I will stress to them ( beyond actually driving properly ) is to understand that a car isn’t just something you drive and put gas into. They will learn to check tire pressure and monitor fluid levels and understand what each is and does. They will be taught to understand why the check engine light turns on in a car and what to listen for. I want them to understand when something isn’t right, as well as when it is.

Hope you find all the info you want and discover more that you didn’t know you were looking for here. Enjoy your visit!

I do agree with you there redfury. The basics will get any new car owner a long way! There’s loads of snow here in the winter so
the train will definitely not get me anywhere! It’s awesome to hear that you’re teaching your kids about cars, it’ll help them in the
long run! A check engine light should spark ideas about what could be done rather than just dumping it in shop, an interest in cars
          is awesome!

Here in Sweden it’s required that you know how to check your fluids / tire pressure and understand the purpose of the major of the parts hood
in order to get your drivers license. We’re even required to drive at high speeds on icy roads to pass. (Loosing traction is pretty scary)

I’m sure I’ll be around for a long time!

Yeah, they’ll give anyone a license to drive here…all you need is a vehicle in good working order to take the test. It lasts 30 minutes and has nothing to do with the car itself. If you can parallel park, you pretty much pass. I remember getting my license in Germany while stationed there…thought it was bad just having to take a 100 point test, until I found out how hard it was for the nationals to get their license…I had my own car at 15 and my 2nd by 16 (at the same time ).

I’ve heard some stories about getting a driver license in the US. My wife got one while working there as an au pair and
all she had to do was basically drive around the block. (Washington DC).
Yeah some countries in Europe really enforce tough tests and test drives in order to get a license over here. I really feel like it’s
a great way of learning about cars and driving them. Having driven a few hundred kilometers in central Europe during vacation times
really helps. Eventually cars will break down and having a basic understanding of how cars work will really aid in the inevitable repair.

Which is why I still watch Eric’s videos! 🙂
