I was reading a forum and the guy said ,no grease sert but rubber cup is going dry should I make a hole ans shoot grease in it? A reply said ,”I use a grease injector ,poke it into the boot and shoot grease in there. Don’t think water can get in it.” I never heard of doing this . Is this what is done now if it’s a factory grease joint?/ Thank’s Jerry

I use this when I need to. I don’t suggest stabbing a lube for life joint at every oil change, but refill it at least once and it could help extend its useful life. I use my needle tip a lot for quieting dried out and rusted ball joints and tie rods. Mostly on Fords is where I see rusted sockets. It’s not a fix in that situation, but it does cure noises until you’re ready to replace a part.

Most auto parts stores will keep something like this on the shelf and it’s just a few bucks to buy.

I’m assuming your talking about greasing sealed factory suspension parts. common practice these days is to replace the part. you could replace with a part that has a grease fitting. If the joint is already messed up then using a grease needle wouldn’t hurt but I wouldn’t suggest doing this on a part that has no problems and is working fine. If you do you are asking for trouble.
