Hello, my 2000 grand prix is throwing a P0137 code every now and then. I’m getting awful gas mileage, (around 17 mpg average). It only occasionally causes the check engine light to come on and may go off a few days later. I have had the code checked several times and it’s confirmed that its always a P0137 code which is bank 1 sensor 2. Does anybody have any idea which oxygen sensor this is? My car has 4 and all i know is that the upstream has a male or female connector and the downstream has the opposite. I have no idea where this particular sensor is of the 4 sensors it has and which type it is. It’s a V6 3800 engine if that helps. Thanks for the help

Should be downstream sensor on right side of motor if you’re standing looking at side where belts are. Bank 1 is the side that includes cylinder #1.
Bank one is the side facing you when standing in front of the car. (#1 cylinder). Follow the exhaust pipe from that bank and sensor two is the one behind (toward the rear of the car) the catalytic converter on that pipe.
I believe that code indicates that the computer has seen low voltage from the sensor for longer than 2 min. Yes it could mean that the sensor is bad, but it could also be an exhaust leak near the sensor or a problem with the wiring going to the computer. That said, I believe it would be the sensor either in, or in the back of the catalytic converter.
