So I searched Google for “auto repair advice forum” because I wanted to see where this forum would turn up, since I was just thinking how many people get the advice they need here. I noticed we were #14, which puts in on the second page. It was a few listings after Scotty Kilmer’s site, which doesn’t even have a forum. Similar when I searched “car repair advice forum”, #11, first on 2nd page. Remove the word “forum” from those searches, and this site doesn’t come up at all (only checked the first 150 results).

I’m just pointing this out because I know that there are ways/services to improve your search exposure, and you’ve invested in this forum and it shows. I like it the speed that it is, don’t know how big Eric wants to grow the forum, and I’m not really suggesting anything needs to be done. I guess I’m just sharing something I happen to notice as I was thinking about this forum’s overall stature online, I’m not even sure it would be a good idea to address it.

I second this. You should add keywords or add more keywords to the webpage to make it easier or better for search engines. As for paying google to bump ya up that is on you but, taking some careful time and really picking the right keywords can move you up that list pretty quick and thus increase your visibility. Which means more viewers and then more revenue.

google does not use keywords anymore for webpages. They are using other things.
