I am sad about it but I’m looking forward to the future. What are your thoughts?

Sad to see it go, but I also see why it’s time has come… everything broke that’s worth fixing is fixed…
Will it be replaced by another vehicle of some sort… any ideas?
November 11, 2013 at 10:12 pm #556110Subaru… We will miss you… ETCG shop will look empty without you. 🙁
I cried (no kidding)November 11, 2013 at 10:55 pm #556115So when is the announcement for the replacement? It’s a 626 right? Tell me it’s the 626. Can’t wait for the announcement. It’s just 3 numbers, you can say it, come on. 6…2…6! banana:
I’m right, right? The anticipation is killing me. :woohoo:
It was nice seeing you work on the Subaru, lots of good memories. I won’t miss it a bit if that green 98/99 I4 626 is your new daily. I’m biased though, very biased. 🙂
November 12, 2013 at 12:34 am #556129Next weeks video will cover the options that I’m considering for a replacement. Sorry, it’s not a 626.
November 12, 2013 at 1:00 am #556146Nooooooo. Got my hopes up really high with the picture of the 626 in the background and getting rid of the Subaru in the same week. You can see why I might think the 626 was going to be the replacement. Got my hopes up big time. You just crushed a dream of mine. Hope you’re happy with yourself. 😛
Hopefully there is a 626 video coming in the near future since the drum is on the floor? Your awesome GoPro fisheye picture with the 626 in the background is going on my garage wall. So, at the very least… thank you for that. One of the coolest 626 images I could ever ask for.
I’m curious to see what the replacement will be.
November 12, 2013 at 3:33 am #556193I did a brake job on the 626 when that pic was taken. I did not tape it because I’ve done plenty of videos on brakes. I was also not able to finish it because they sent me the wrong parts.
If things work out the way I hope for the next vehicle, you won’t be disappointed. At least I hope you won’t. As I said, next weeks video will cover what options I’m considering and why.
Sorry to crush your dreams.
November 12, 2013 at 8:28 am #556244I would like to give my respect for the subie. Daughter has a red one almost like your that she calls ruby. Thank your subie for all the videos, and I wish her the best on her new service.
I am hoping your next is a TDI and that is for greedy reasons…
November 13, 2013 at 1:13 am #556373Farewell to the Subie!
I have always liked her and , as you pointed out, she is (yes, “she”! 😉 ) a nice trusty car.If I think back to all the nice videos you made with her, starting with the “used car inspection” series, following up with the very interesting performance issues series, and then the very useful interior cleaning videos (I actually followed you on the same track, and now my cars smell A LOT better! Thanks! 🙂 ) , and all the very very interesting brake videos, and the HVAC videos, and the headlights, and the transmission, and the differential, and the cat testing…etc etc
I’m proud of how you’ve transformed that car, and I think her next owner will for sure appreciate the added value you gave her!
You most definitely “flipped” that car! YESSSSS!
My respects to the Subie, and to her savior as well :cheer:
And…I can’t see the time when you actually acquire your next car/truck/hotrod/whatever :woohoo:
Live long and prosper (and stay dirty!)

November 13, 2013 at 3:02 am #556397It was sad to let the Subaru go. I came up with a phrase that sums up my experience with it. “The Subaru got us through”. That’s how I’ll remember her.
I think you’ll like what I have in mind for a replacement however. Stay tuned.
November 13, 2013 at 8:07 am #556495I will echo the sadness in seeing the Subaru leave. I have owned two of them, and miss owning one terribly. My next car will almost certainly be a Subaru. There’s just something about them, they find a way into your heart – what great cars. In fact, I would have bought your Subaru Eric! Seriously, I would have.
Anyway, goodbye Subaru, sad to see you go, but should be excited about what’s next.
November 14, 2013 at 6:09 am #556717I hope some sort of muscle car is considered haha parts would be cheaper too for the repair vids! :woohoo:
November 16, 2013 at 10:22 pm #557349I’m bummed to see it go for selfish reasons, because everything you did on it helped me work on mine (98 outback). Replacing axles in particular, also the caliper replacement. I totally understand your reasons, though. The 4EAT in these cars is reliable but about as responsive as a mule with pneumonia. I’m actually fixing mine up to sell it and get a manual model with a 2.5L engine. Of course, turbo is even better. B) Keep up the good work and stay warm!
May 6, 2014 at 1:06 am #590980Hey Eric,
Now that the Subaru has been gone a while, do you miss it?
I am thankful for the videos that came from her…Hope Little Subie is happy.
PS-I have to admit, this was a sad yet extremely creative video. You sure know how to evoke emotion with just the right music, carefully selected video clips, etc. Had you also thrown in a bit of black and white, or sepia tone on the reflection footage?

Heck yea I still miss it. Given the opportunity I’d like to pick up an STI or something at some point. Has to be a manual though. I’m sick of automatics.
Thanks for the comments on the video.

I honestly wasn’t trying to sell it. I was just offered a ridiculous amount of money for it and I took it. I didn’t feel bad, the guy got a great car. You saw the work I did to it. It also provided funding for the Fairmont which I also love. I guess that’s how things work out sometimes.
