I know it’s possible to shift without the clutch but I read it’s bad for your tranny. What about going into neutral without the clutch (without load)? Say you are in 4th gear and you let off the gas because you see the red light a few hundred feet in front of you and you want to coast in neutral. Is it bad to make a habit of putting the shifter into neutral without the use of the clutch once the gas pedal is let off and there’s no load?
It may not sound like much but for someone living in LA with insane traffic if I can go into neutral with the clutch it would probably cut my leg movement by 30-40% with the stop and go.

it will not hurt the tranny to shift out into neutral

depending on the transmission you have , if its a syncro shift you can go without the clutch, but you will have to wait longer to shift.

It would be fine to go to neutral without the clutch, but for saftys sake use the clutch when shifting.
