Going for A4 ASE Cert.

hello fellow techs. I will be taking my second ASE test this month. I am going for the A4 cert which is front end suspension (steering and alignment). Just posting up to see if anyone has taken the test recently. If so I was wondering if you could give me some insight as to what i can expect on it(lots of alignment questions or maybe steering). Also what did you use to study? I am using a variety of study material from my old collage books to online free resources. I’m thinking about purchasing the ASE practice test just to be sure I know what I’m getting into. Just wondering what your experiences are on the A4.

one question WHY WASTE YOUR TIME and money ASE Cert spells rip off What I can tell you is if you have done a lot of steering and alignments NOTHING on this test will make any sense and most of the answers they want are 100 % WORNG
And don’t tell me I don’t understand I took all the test I had ASE master cert and only passed by giving answers they wanted not the right ones What you have to under stand is ASE is nothing more then a money making scam for the people that run ASE IT wont make you more money it wont make you a better tech ASE is a piece of paper for some one that does not know any thing about auto repair and makes them feel good ASE will NOT make you a better tech
I just wish all of you would stop drinking the cool aid and forget this ASE crap

I am taking my ASE test in order to beef up my resume and hopefully help myself study a bit more about the automotive industry and its practices. I am aware the these question are heavily theory based/by the book and do not always transfer to real world practice. IN all I will get paid more if I show my employer these certs. They will not even promote me to the next level without them. That being said I think that people should be doing this. It helps make you stand out from the rest of the techs and sort of show that you at least know something about cars. You wont pass if you just walk in off the street in other words. Thanks for your opinion.

I have ASE certifications and stingray66 is partially right. Learn and study for the questions that are on the exams and almost anyone can pass weather YOU believe some of the answers are correct or not. I don’t get as much as a my ass kissed for the effort to get them. My Company paid for them but most are about to expire and I’m not gonna renew them.

They don’t send me for training anymore cuz at 63 I’m a bad investment. I keep counting the days when I can retire.

That said, anything as far as certificates and other qualifications included on your resume can only help you get the best employment possible. It also impresses the customer waiting in the lounge for their repair to be completed.

All the ase tests are very easy to pass as long as you read the book and take the sample questions on the back…Will reading a ase study guide help you when it comes to hands on experience? Well Im Master Certified and I couldnt rebuild a automatic transmission after passing the test. Looks good on paper and the wall thats about it.

Would you rather have the guy with 25 years experience of automotive repair and not one ase, or the guy with 2 years experience who is master ase certified with L1 working in your shop?

Ase is all about money now.
