Eric, we would love a video on the GM 3800 intake failures, what causes it how to fix it and Dexcool or no Dexcool. Also what is the best choice for a replacement upper intake and the lower intake gaskets. Alot of 3800 motors have bit the dust due to coolant ingestion and so many people are driving around not knowing the symptoms and what to keep an eye on. Thanks Eric for all your hard work and dedication

I think you mentioned this on Facebook. I’ve been wanting to do that video for some time but I need to wait for one to come into the shop needing that service before I can do that. Rest assured that when one does I’ll be shooting the video. Thanks for your request.

I would like to see this to because I have a 2008 Grand Prix with the 3800 series III engine in it and this has me worried that there is something about the gasket failure I do not know about I heard the can go bad but the 3400 engine is alot more common with it. I would like to see any video’s on this engine.

As I said if it comes in and I have time to shoot the video I will. I wouldn’t look for it anytime soon however as I already have the next months worth of videos shot. Thank you for your request.

I believe the series 3 3800 went back to a aluminum upper intake manifold instead of the composite/plastic on the series 2. Iam not sure if any changes were made to the lower other then improved aluminum framed gaskets which are available now for the series 2 3800. The series 3 most likely has these installed from the factory I would believe. Keep the oil changed and an eye on your coolant level that motor will go well over 200,000 miles.

I had a 92 bonnieville with a series I in it that went to 300,000 miles before I had to scrap it cause I got a new car and no one wanted it. That is some of the reason why I bought this car and yes it does have the aluminum upper intake.
