Hi everyone! I’ve been talking to a hiring manager for a string of dealerships around my area for about 3 weeks now, and she’s meeting with a lot of service managers to try to put me into an entry-level service position. I do not know what manufacturer, and the two spots she has suggested for me is detail tech, or lube tech. From what I gather, people who have worked in the service industry do not like dealerships as a workplace; but there’s a lot of mixed feelings. What can I expect working at a dealership? Do you have any advice for somebody with no experience?

Also, I would be payed to go to school for 3 months to become a master technician for whatever manufacturer I end up working for.

I’m not a tech. But if you can get paid to go to school. Do it. The more skills you have the more valuable you become

Go for it! Even if it sucks, consider it a stepping stone to your dream job. The more experience you have the better, expecially since they’re paying for school. Its a no brainer!

And in regards to it being a good or bad work environment, I think it really depends on the dealership.
